LoveMyShoes.com steps-up in effort to aid hurricane victims

November 01, 2005
  • Total pairs donated: 8830
  • Value of shoes donated:$159,479.00
LoveMyShoes.com has stepped-up in the effort to provide relief to the survivors of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  In cooperation with Russell Simmons’ Rush Communications, Robert Yeganeh’s LoveMyShoes.com is sending approximately 10,000 pairs of women’s shoes to the Gulf Coast region.  Rush Communications is organizing shipping, and will combine the LoveMyShoes.com donation with other goods that are all being sent to survivors.

Russell Simmons has long held that when the resources are available, social responsibility is a top priority.  “We are committed to filling the voids and serving as best we can the many thousands of people that lost loved ones, homes and belongings to hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  To have LoveMyShoes.com donate thousands of pairs of shoes from their shelves shows the kind of generosity and support we should all be showing to our neighbors on the Gulf Coast.”

Robert Yeganeh, president of LoveMyShoes.com, is excited about being able to provide what people are certain to need after they have lost so much.  “Teachers, police, secretaries, waitresses, anybody and everybody that had their homes laid-waste by the winds and waters are certain to have lost what was sitting on the floor of their closets.  I don’t imagine that there were too many people rescuing their footwear in the process of escaping catastrophe.  We want to do what we can, and we can give shoes.”

“Where there is abundance there is an opportunity to give.  When that opportunity is taken, then the giver deserves credit and should be elevated as an example of how we can help each other in times of crisis,” declares Michael Sean Anderson, whose McCan Company brokered the Rush/LoveMyShoes.com relationship.   “Rush Communications has a track record of tireless dedication to those in need.  It is tremendously encouraging to see Robert Yeganeh and LoveMyShoes.com join the effort and help set the standard for the rest of us.”

If Mr. Yeganeh’s name seems familiar, it is probably because he has made headlines in the past by offering Martha Stewart specially designed footwear for "women looking to conceal ... unsightly house arrest bracelets", and by giving Paris Hilton a pair of one-of-a-kind diamond-studded 14-carat shoes.  LoveMyShoes.com is a leading metropolitan New York shoe retailer and can be found online at www.lovemyshoes.com.  Slightly used shoes from individuals are also welcome, and if you stop by on Tuesday, November 1st to donate shoes, you will receive $5 off a Love My Shoes purchase.  Please direct inquiries and interview requests for Mr. Yeganeh to KMR communications at 212 213-6444 (atten: Meghan Berger).
